The Iranian province of Ilam (Elam) with its capital of the same name borders Iraq. Since jobs were to be created in this otherwise underdeveloped region after the Iraqi-Iranian war, the government supported the establishment of weaving chairs here. The strong training of the weavers ensures that Ilam carpets are among the best carpets that Persian carpet manufacturers have to offer. With the fine quality of approx. 450.000 knots / m2, it is possible to create remarkably fine contours on these carpets. Ilam carpets are inspired by designs of the Sarough and Isfahan carpets. However, the coloring is softer and lighter.
The colors of this rug vary depending on which side it is viewed from. This means that the carpet has a light and a dark side because of the location of the pile. You can play with this visible effect and decide in advance where the light side of the carpet should be visible.
