Bakhtiar or Bakthiari carpets are among the most popular and long-lasting nomadic carpets. This model draws inspiration from the typical carpet designs of the Bakhtiar tribes. The wool used is slightly fat, which protects the carpet from wear and makes it shiny.
Bakhtiari weavers draw much of their inspiration from nature and the most typical pattern is the “garden” pattern (Khesti), in which the carpet is divided into repeating squares with flowers and animals. Carpets with central medallions and tree of life motifs also occur, largely influenced by Isfahan carpets.
The carpets are very stable and durable, thick and firm in composition. Bakhtiar rugs work well in high traffic areas such as hallways and entrances.
The colors of this rug vary depending on which side it is viewed from. This means that the carpet has a light and a dark side because of the location of the pile. You can play with this visible effect and decide in advance where the light side of the carpet should be visible.
