Carpets from the city of Nain, on the border of one of the largest deserts in Iran, are among the most famous Persian carpets in the world. Nain carpets are Iran's finest handicrafts. Their typical design is distinctive with floral ornaments, a medallion and beige, red or blue colors. Thanks to their designations 4La, 6La, 9La and 12La, the intricacies of a Nain carpet can be seen at a glance. The lower the "La" number, the higher the knot density and the finer the carpet. This Masterpieces are made over a year by the most experienced weavers from Nain. The density of the related knotting on the carpet fringes can be controlled. If a fringe consists of two threads, it is a 4La. However, if it consists of three, you have a 6La in front of you.
The colors of this rug vary depending on which side it is viewed from. This means that the carpet has a light and a dark side because of the location of the pile. You can play with this visible effect and decide in advance where the light side of the carpet should be visible.
