This carpet was hand-knotted in India from Kashmir silk. Pure silk is one of the highest quality and most luxurious materials for making carpets and gives the works a particularly elegant look. In the past, Persian carpet weavers moved to India to practice their craft. Over time, a far-reaching tradition of carpet manufacturing has developed in India today. The patterns and colors are based on designs of classic Persian carpets. Many hand-knotted oriental carpets come from the north of the country. The Cashmere silk carpets come from the “Kashmir” region, which borders directly on Pakistan to the north.
Each rug is unique, made only with the highest quality materials and a lot of skill that has been taught over generations.
The colors of this rug vary depending on which side it is viewed from. This means that the carpet has a light and a dark side because of the location of the pile. You can play with this visible effect and decide in advance where the light side of the carpet should be visible.
